You exclaim: That’s
an awesome book!!!
Your friend responds enthusiastically with a comment about
how s/he has GOT to read it.
Often what drives your enthusiasm for a book is the unexpected
plot turn near the end of the book. You
would have bet millions (if you had them!) ☺…that
you had figured out the ending of the story and it was just a matter of
finishing the book to confirm your suspicions.
Well, having the plot of a book not turn out as it seemed
would probably be harmless enough.
However, is that necessarily a good thing in real life?
Consider the truth about fool’s gold as it directly relates
to that question.
Technically, the term, fool's gold, refers to an actual
mineral that has a color very similar to gold. Because of its resemblance to
gold it has fooled many people over thousands of years.
It is something that appears to be something that it is not.
How unfair is that?
The concept of fool's gold can be applied to many more
aspects of life other than just a mineral that looks like something it isn't.
Some people, metaphorically, live a life of fool's gold.
They appear to be something they are not.
My question is, how can they truly enjoy a life that isn't?
I would think you would want to reach the end of your life
not having tried to fool other people and, therefore, yourself. What's the
value in that?
A life lived with integrity, enthusiasm, humility, and dedication can be nothing but golden. It's worth? --Priceless!
A life lived with integrity, enthusiasm, humility, and dedication can be nothing but golden. It's worth? --Priceless!
Priceless because it is what it is rather than what it
isn't.
What would you add to the list of
characteristics making life a golden, priceless experience? What are you going to do to exhibit those
characteristics?
