Have you really given some dedicated thought to your
uniqueness as a human being? If your
answer to the question is yes, than good for you! If your answer is no well…
Either way, consider the following thoughts!
Your challenge is to develop an attitude where you believe
in and then leverage your uniqueness to realize your true potential.
A word on your uniqueness before taking a deeper look at
that last point… It is scientifically irrefutable!
While every human being is connected by the sameness of
having 23 pairs of chromosomes, their contribution to who you are is unique.
A quick lesson in biology is appropriate here.
Your chromosomes are the key to keeping everything at the
core of your uniqueness (DNA) in proper order as the cells in your body
constantly reproduce. Without your
chromosomes holding your uniqueness together you would be a physical wreck!
The science behind it all is astonishing and compelling in
confirming you are one of a kind. If you
need more info on that here’s a link to an easy to understand summary of chromosomes.
So, given your uniqueness, why worry yourself about
achieving the potential of that uniqueness?
Answer: Without striving for your potential you minimally exist in a malaise.
Realizing potential is all about activating your latent
qualities to allow yourself to become more successful in the future. Contrast realizing your potential with
existing in a state of uneasiness and a general sense of melancholy (malaise).
Which would you prefer?
It’s your choice!
Besides…because you are unique, you have the potential of
making a unique contribution to the rest of us!
Making the more rewarding choice comes down to the attitude
you take in making the decision.
Let’s assume you want to take the attitude of belief in
yourself and realizing your greater potential in life.
How do you build that kind of attitude?
- Read the book, Self Matters, by Dr. Phil: It’s about helping you in “Creating Your Life from the Inside Out.”
- Read the book, The Power of Positive Thinking, by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale: It was written “with the sole objective of helping the reader achieve a happy, satisfying, and worthwhile life,”
- Read both books before you do the next step.
- Review both books and find the top 3 ideas from each book that excite you the most.
- List the 6 ideas and for each develop a step-by-step plan of action for integrating the idea into your daily life.
- After 3 months review your progress and adapt your actions and attitude accordingly.
- After another 3 months review the 2 books again and list 3 additional ideas from each book.
- Repeat steps 5 and 6.
- Continue the process until you are totally focused on realizing your potential rather than wallowing in malaise.
Yes, you have 23 pairs of chromosomes protecting the order of
your unique DNA within them.
But…to leverage that uniqueness you must take an approach
(as suggested above) to becoming all you can be, do or have.
What is the most important reason why you
would want to take the above approach to realizing your unique potential? What is the first step you are going to take
in following through on that “why?”
