How to Create Amazing Value through More of a Single Focus

Bill Gates (yes, the Microsoft co-founder) is the personification of the title of this post.  Why?

Well, when you investigate his background you will find he is as diverse and complex as any human being.  However, even with that diversity and complexity there is a consistent thread of focus that had led him to creating great, personal value in his life.
By the way, when I reference personal value, I am not just thinking about his net worth.  We all know that is an amazing number!
No…other things of personal value that have been created by this consistent thread of focus to which I refer are things like great personal satisfaction; a world-wide respected reputation; joy of life; evolving and continuing relevance to the world around him.
The problem for many of us (maybe you included) is we see all the value Gates has created for himself but miss the key point of how he has done that.  The consequences are we don’t have a chance at receiving similar rewards to his.
Trust me…it’s not because he is the co-founder of Microsoft along with his childhood friend, Paul Allen.  It’s because of the resulting software applications/services provided to and helping millions of people around the world.
It’s not because he and his wife, Melinda, were moved to establish the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  It’s because of the incredible aid provided by the foundation to millions of people all over the world.
Bill Gates enjoys great personal satisfaction; a respected reputation; joy; and continuing relevance because of his singular focus on ideas that help vast numbers of people.
Help lots of people and they will reward you in lots of ways.
Your challenge, then, is to find that singular focus for you that will help many people.

You can do it and here’s how.

When you consider the example of Bill Gates, he is a person who stayed true to his passionate interests.  So much so that he left Harvard University prior to graduating because his passion was computer programming.
Dumb move?  The answer is obvious when you look at the results of his life to date!

You must make a similar decision about your pursuits in life.  If you are not pursuing your passions, you will have minimal impact on any people…let alone many people!
Take steps now to clearly define those things in life that fill you with passion.

Finding passion will create little personal value for you, if you don’t sweat through the process of figuring out how that passion can be channeled to help lots of people.  You must do a deep analysis of other people’s needs.
Start by doing a Google search of a key topic that relates to your passion.  For example, one of my passions is writing inspirational messages that move people to improve their lives through taking positive action.

Well, if I’m going to help lots of people through my messages, I must focus on their needs.  I need to understand “why do people search for inspiration.”
Using that phrase, a Google search brings 237,000,000 results.  However, page 1 probably gives me all the information I need to pursue my passion in a way the helps people in the most meaningful ways.

You can do the same thing with your passion!  Creating amazing value of great personal satisfaction; a world-wide respected reputation; joy of life; evolving and continuing relevance to the world depends on it.
What’s your passion and how can you help lots of people through applying it?
